News From the Officers

William Bronson
Commander’s Comments:

First off, Happy New Year. I hope that everyone had a happy holiday. The children’s Christmas party put on by the Auxiliary was a wonderful event and was enjoyed by everyone that attended. I would like to thank Alden Jones for taking the job as Service Officer. Our Color Guard is in need for more volunteers so they can represent our post in civic events. We are planning a event for the National Commander at the post on Wednesday the 28th of March.

Happy New Years to everyone. I hope this newsletter finds you all healthy and happy. We have a lot going on at the post and would encourage everyone to stop by and check out the new jukebox, play some tickets, sign up for the multitude of drawings and of course to socialize with friends. We had a very successful New Years Eve Dinner/Dance that was sold out once again. Please check out the upcoming events; the Birthday Dinner, a visit from the National Commander and Calcutta are all coming up within the next two months.

From the First Vice Commander:

Happy New Years! Post 1 membership stands at 934 which is 89% of the 2012 goal of 1055 members. I ask that each member check the delinquent membership list for people you may know. Further, if you know an eligible veteran, please refer them to the post. We are all unofficial members of the Post 1 membership committee and can only reach 100% membership by working together. Thank you for all you do.

From the Second Vice Commander:

Happy New Years. There have been several successful events at the post since the last newsletter such as New Years, Kid’s Christmas Party and SAL Dinner/Dance. Coming up we have the Birthday Dinner on March 10th, a tentative visit from the National Commander on March 28 and the Legion Calcutta on April 14 as well as plans for one or more Fish Fries. We have snacks every Friday and invite you to come have a drink, play some tickets and eat.

From the Sons of the Legion Commander:

I only have a couple items to discuss so here we go…
First off, our annual rifle raffle & dinner dance in November was a huge success. These fund raising events provide us with more that 50% of the money needed to maintain our financial obligations and operate during the year. The rest of the money comes from dues which is my second topic. Last year at this time we were over 100% membership. This year, we are at about 70%. If there’s a 2011 after your name on the address label, your 2012 dues haven’t been paid yet and this will be your last newsletter.
Also, your name has been removed from the daily and weekly draw book since Jan. 1. Please make an attempt to stop by and pay your dues or mail them to us.

S.A.L. Commander
